Beacons Cymru are delighted to be supported by Cult Cymru, Bectu and the Musicians’ Union on a brand-new strand of work called Future Disrupter.
Future Disrupter is a development programme aimed at supporting aspiring young project managers (18-30). Through the Future Disrupter programme, Beacons Cymru will work with ten selected young people from across Wales who are keen to progress their careers in the music industry. The programme is packed with a range of transferable skills, professional guidance and industry opportunity, all aimed to help and propel any early-mid career stage project manager.
The Future Disrupter programme helps to strengthen the talent pathway of music industry professionals in Wales by providing essential support to young people with a passion for music and project management.
Support from both Cult Cymru and the Musicians’ Union will strengthen our collective aim of empowering the next generation of music industry personnel with sound advice, fair pay and new opportunities. The Musicians' Union is the UK trade union for all musicians representing over 33,000 musicians across the UK working in all sectors of the music business. As well as negotiating on behalf of members with all the major employers in the industry, they offer a range of support services for musicians.
Andy Warnock, Musicians’ Union Regional Organiser Wales & South West England says “The Musicians’ Union are delighted to be able to support Beacons Cymru in their work to inspire and support the next generation of music industry professionals with the new Future Disrupter programme”. CULT Cymru is a learning project led by BECTU in partnership with Equity, the Musicians’ Union and the Writers’ Guild. They work with industry workers, employers and other organisations to arrange learning activities and networking events throughout Wales.
CULT Cymru add, “CULT Cymru is delighted to support and collaborate with Beacons. As trade unions we share the same aspirations and values in ensuring that the creative industries in Wales are accessible to all and that those entering the industry have lifelong friends that will be there for them in challenging times as well as the good ones”.
Alexandra Jones, project lead for Future Disrupter, says:
“It’s a real privilege to be able to have two highly reputable partners on board in the Musicians’ Union and CULT Cymru to help deliver the training and provide a support network for the next generation of project managers and entrepreneurs here in Wales. Their experience, insight, and knowledge will be invaluable to our project participants”.
Beacons Cymru is a pan-Wales organisation aiming to empower the next generation of young people aspiring to work in the music industry. Our vision is to provide all young people across Wales with access to the industry knowledge, opportunities, networks and skills necessary to carve sustainable careers and new business models in music.
